Five unmissable storylines from Driver Season 2 on Prime Video

From rivalries to redemption, Formula E: Driver is back for a second season. Here to share the biggest talking points from the access-all-areas docuseries is Championship Journalist Katy Fairman.

The second season of Formula E: Driver releases today on Amazon Prime Video today, Friday 28th November, looking back at an explosive Season 11 of the all-electric motorsport championship.

Following five drivers – Pascal Wehrlein, Antonio Felix da Costa, Oliver Rowland, Dan Ticktum and Taylor Barnard – the series takes fans away from the race track and shows the reality of being a racer; from the good days to the bad.

Our Championship Journalist, Katy Fairman, got a sneak peak at the new series and shares her main takeaways from Season 2 of Formula E: Driver on Amazon Prime Video.

Tension and trouble at Porsche

Although they clinched both the Teams’ and Manufacturers' trophies in Season 11, there was an inter-team battle brewing behind-the-scenes at Porsche. After a ‘misunderstanding’ on the drivers’ parade ahead of the first race in São Paulo, Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Felix da Costa have a falling out which lasts the duration of the season. We hear from both drivers, and learn their side of the story.

HISTORY: Who are all the Formula E champions from Seasons 1 to 11?

Whilst da Costa weighs up his options, and whether he should stay or leave the Porsche team, Wehrlein gives the Formula E: Driver documentary team access to his home life away from the track. He also opens up about the terrifying crash he experienced in the season-opener in Brazil, after making contact with Nick Cassidy (Jaguar TCS Racing) and being thrown against a trackside barrier before being flipped upside down.

Despite their differences, the duo must work together to help Porsche win their first Teams’ World Championship in Formula E.

Ticktum’s back and better than ever

Just like da Costa, Dan Ticktum returns for another season in the Formula E: Driver hotseat. Kicking off the first episode with a typical rant, he’s as authentic and iconic as you’d expect.

After years of claiming to be one of the best on the grid, he’s finally got the machinery to prove it after a significant investment in the CUPRA KIRO team and a Porsche powertrain alongside. This season sees Dan and the team tick off several huge motorsport milestones as they fight with the top teams, but it’s certainly not a smooth journey.

With enough expletives to fill a swear jar five times over, and Ticktum being unapologetically himself, it’s no surprise the Formula E: Driver team brought him back for more.

Rowland’s remarkable season

Oliver Rowland’s early success with Nissan in Season 11 was almost groundbreaking territory in Formula E. In such a hugely competitive field, Rowland’s consistency allowed him to pull a huge gap in the drivers’ standings and he looked to have the title almost guaranteed mid-way through the season.

However, nothing is ever easy in this championship and a string of disappointing race results soon followed. As well as joining Rowland for the highs, Formula E: Driver also delves deeper into the darker times. Speaking candidly about his mental health as well as experiences of anxiety and panic attacks, Rowland’s emotional journey is really the backbone of this series.

CALENDAR: Here's every race set for the 2025/26 Formula E season

As the pressure mounts, and Wehrlein closes the gap at the top of the table, we get to see a vulnerable Rowland as he finds his way to his first World Championship.

Behind-the-scenes with Barnard

As rookie seasons go, Taylor Barmard had a pretty good one. With five podiums and two Julius Baer Pole Positions to his name, the former NEOM McLaren driver allowed Formula E: Driver to document his first full-time season in the championship.

MEET THE GRID: Which drivers are racing in Formula E in 2025/26?

Holding records as the youngest-ever race starter, points scorer and podium finisher in the Formula E history, to name a few, Barnard’s youth isn’t to be mistaken for timidness on-track as he’s quick to get his elbows out when racing and gains quite the reputation.

Discussing the reality of racing with such veterans of the sport, and sharing the sacrifices he made on his way, it’s an honest look at how Barnard is settling in as the new kid on the block alongside some of the best racing drivers in the world.

Tears, tantrums and the truth

Overall, the second season of Formula E: Driver is another fantastic insight into the all-electric championship and the personalities that make it extra special. The racing is brilliant, the people are entertaining and the storylines are extra spicy.
