Doriane Pin has long been established as one of the brightest young stars of international motorsport, from a class victory at the 24 Hours of Spa at the age of 18, to being crowned champion in F1 Academy last year, her ability to adapt to different machinery has made her considerable success all the more impressive.
Now, the French-born racer is making her foray into the Formula E paddock as Citroën Racing’s GEN4 development driver which will see Doriane support the team in the development and refinement of the team’s GEN4 package, helping to optimise performance, energy management systems, and software calibration ahead of next season.

“I'm in a very exciting role,” said Pin. “Joining such a brand, I think it's a very good opportunity and joining Formula E as well because it's a growing championship that is very interesting as a driver.
“I did my first simulator day a few weeks ago and I think it's a very interesting car to get to know and to drive and develop as well, because there are a lot of things that I think we can improve, especially with the new (GEN4) car.”
Opportunities for Doriane to experience the brand new GEN4 car will not just be limited to Citroen Racing’s simulator, with the team confirming that the 22-year-old will have multiple opportunities to get behind-the-wheel of Formula E machinery in the coming months.
“My first impression (of driving the car in the simulator) is how instantaneous the feeling of the speed and the power is,” she explains. “With being electric, it’s very very powerful. So, that was the main thing for me that was the biggest difference compared to the other cars that I've driven before.

“Obviously, it’s also a different approach to driving and approach to racing as well, with the energy management. So, definitely another way to learn how to race, and it's quite interesting. But it's still a car that has to be developed, and a very different car to drive, the approach also in the corners and on braking, it's moving quite a bit, so there’s a lot of playing around with the car - it's very unique.”
Formula E’s newest generation of all-electric cars will see the championship’s biggest jump in performance to date. Capable of reaching speeds in excess of 335kph, 0-100kph in approximately 1.8 seconds, and 0-200kph in just 4.4 seconds - 1.5 seconds faster than its predecessor - GEN4 will deliver 50% more power in race mode than the current GEN3 Evo race car. In ATTACK MODE, GEN4 produces up to 600kW of power, a 71% increase in base output over GEN3 Evo, delivering performance that pushes the limits of electric racing.
“Formula E, I wouldn't say it's getting close to another category,” Doriane explains. “Formula 1 is Formula 1, Hypercars are heavier cars and obviously require a different approach to racing - Formula E is very very unique and apart.
“It's also a championship that has developed quite a lot in the last few years. So with the GEN4 coming up, it's a big step in terms of performance - it's going to be cool to drive it!”
This year, Doriane is competing in the European Le Mans Series with Duqueine, alongside her duties as a Development Driver for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team and Development Driver for Peugeot Sport Hypercar program.
