Reigning champion Nyck de Vries started the new ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season in dominant fashion after winning the first race of the season, leading his Mercedes-EQ teammate Stoffel Vandoorne home for a dominant one-two finish for the German outfit.
The day kicked off with some edge-of-the-seat tension as the all-new knockout qualifying format set the scene for the day.
As Season 8 went green on Formula E's 85th race, Vandoorne and de Vries were quickly off the line but the Dutchman took advantage of a slip-up by his Belgian teammate, when Vandoorne missed the activation zone for his ATTACK MODE.
The duo were unstoppable from then on out, finishing an ominous eight seconds clear of third place finisher Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti).
