ANTÓNIO FÉLIX DA COSTA
“Changing teams is hard, it’s very hard getting to know a new car, new people, everything. And it took me five races to win a race with Jaguar and, to be honest, in a way I feel like we could have done it earlier, but to do it in just five races, that's a big achievement.
“When you join a team as victorious as Jaguar TCS Racing and obviously me being a previous champion and an ambitious athlete, this is always the goal, right? This is where we set the bar.
“To have Mitch as a teammate has been really good. He's been really, really good, and we're helping each other. Today in the race, he let me go when I was on ATTACK MODE and that was just awesome, man. We're getting a really good dynamic together and yeah, hopefully it keeps going and hopefully both of us can be there at the end.”
SÉBASTIEN BUEMI
“Kind of relieved (with this result) to be honest because, you know, as I said, in Mexico I've thrown it away in turn one starting from pole. In Miami, the team did not communicate well and we impeded people, started last but had a mega race. Yesterday we just had a bad set of tires and we qualified last, and today everything went okay.
“I didn't make mistakes, the team did great, and we had a good set of tires and we had a good result. So, hopefully we can iron out all those small issues and start to score some decent points like today.
“It's always hard to predict but obviously I think what the team has done and evolved in the last, you know, six months is good. We seem to see a lot more performance—not always the result we hope for—but good performance. And if you have performance, at some point you get the result.”
OLIVER ROWLAND
“I was pretty down and disappointed and lacking a bit of confidence after the last couple of races. So I thought it was really important to try and come back with something good. Honestly, I was really happy with the car in the race. I mean, I had a good balance, lacked a little bit of efficiency compared to da Costa, but much better today than yesterday.
“I mean, I've just been there for him (speaking about protege Arvid Lindblad attending the Jeddah E-Prix) for a long time. So he asked me if he could come this weekend, and I think he just wanted to come and support me. I'm obviously doing eight of the first ten Formula 1 races with him, so I'm looking forward to Melbourne, so I think he wanted to just come and show his support for what I do in the same way that I do with him. But yeah, of course, if I can be there in any capacity I will be, but yeah, he's got an important season ahead of him.”
DAN TICKTUM
“I'm not the kind of man that celebrates a fifth place. I think from where we were, there isn't a huge amount more we could have achieved. I think it was quite clear that the Porsche and the Mahindra, I would say, were the fastest. Porsche struggled today, but I don't absolutely know why.
“But it's hard. I feel like I have to absolutely nail a lap to be there, which we seemed to do a bit more in the 350kw in practice and seemed to be quite fast. But in the quali today, the group (Group A) was much harder than Group B. We did a bit of a different strategy with the tires and I made a small mistake on the best lap, so it was a bit on me.
“I'm normally quite self-critical of my performances in races and in general, but I think we all did a very good job today. I think I got a good start, overtook a couple of cars, got past a couple of cars in the saving phase while managing to also save compared to others around. ATTACK MODES were good, a little bit on the safe side maybe with the first one, but I don't think we would have achieved much more than what we did today, so I think it’s a good job.”
