The four-part series once again will take viewers behind the curtain during a critical Season 11 (2024/25) campaign of the world's fastest-accelerating sport. The Astronaut Films cameras followed Porsche Formula E teammates, turned rivals, Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa (now at Jaguar TCS Racing), CUPRA KIRO’s Dan Ticktum, Oliver Rowland of Nissan Formula E Team, and NEOM McLaren’s Taylor Barnard (now at DS Penske) on and off the track to examine the daily challenges faced by elite motorsport drivers throughout a demanding season of high-pressure competition.
The series immerses viewers in the grit, drama, and defining moments that shaped Formula E’s most fiercely contested season yet. Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa go head-to-head in a high-voltage intra-team rivalry, while Dan Ticktum commands attention as one of motorsport’s most outspoken and unpredictable personalities. Oliver Rowland’s journey of resilience and personal loss adds emotional depth, and Barnard emerges as a fearless new talent. Together, their journeys embody the heart, determination, and relentless intensity that drive the all-electric racing series.
Jonathan Salt, VP, Media at Formula E, said: “The return of Formula E: Driver gives fans another chance to experience the raw emotion and intensity that define our sport. Formula E is built on relentless competition, where the drivers walk the thin line between triumph and disaster. With both Seasons 1 and 2 available on Prime Video, it allows us to connect a global audience to the energy, passion, and human drama that makes Formula E so special.”
Jon Alwen, Formula E: Driver Executive Producer and Astronaut Films CEO, said: “We’re thrilled to be throwing our audience back into the Formula E paddock for a second season. We wanted to give viewers a seat in the heart of the garages and take them even closer to the action and the Formula E drivers than ever before. Too often, now, many sports documentaries are overly sanitised and semi-scripted; Formula E: Driver is the opposite of this. Our cameras were there to capture all the genuine drama as it unfolded, and this latest season delivered in ways we couldn’t have even dreamed of. From standout rookies to bitter season-long rivalries and the most remarkable rise to the very top of the sport, it had it all. We can’t wait to share it.”
Pascal Wehrlein, No. 94, Porsche Formula E Team driver, said: “Being part of Formula E: Driver Season 2 was an incredible experience. It really gave me the chance to show fans what life is like beyond the visor - the moments that don’t always make it to the broadcast. This season captures the intensity of the championship like never before, and I think viewers will get a real sense of the passion and dedication that drives me on the grid.”
António Félix da Costa, No. 13, Jaguar TCS Racing driver (formerly Porsche Formula E Team), said: “I’m proud to be back for Season 2 of Formula E: Driver. Last year pushed me harder than ever - physically, mentally, emotionally - and most of that journey happened far from the spotlight. What fans see on track is just the surface. This series peels back the curtain to reveal the grit, the grind, and the behind-the-scenes intensity it takes to stay competitive at the highest level.”
Dan Ticktum, No. 33, CUPRA KIRO driver, said: “Season 2 is going to be wild, but in the best way. Last season had its highs and lows, but that’s racing - it’s raw and unpredictable. What I love about this series is it doesn’t sugarcoat anything. I’ve never been one to hold back, so fans will get the full picture — the good, the bad, and everything in between.”
Oliver Rowland, No. 23, Nissan Formula E Team driver, said: “Season 11 was one of the toughest but most rewarding of my career. ABB Formula E is incredibly competitive, and this series shows how hard everyone has to push to even have a chance at the title. Fans will see the grind, the setbacks, and the belief that keeps you chasing the dream.”
Taylor Barnard, No. 77, DS Penske driver (formerly NEOM McLaren) said: “Formula E: Driver is such a cool way for fans to see what life in this championship is really like. Season 11 was huge for me — a chance to learn, grow, and prove myself against some of the best drivers in the world. The series shows the intensity, the rivalries, and the passion behind every lap. I can’t wait for fans to see it.”
