The halfway point in the second season of the FIA Formula E Championship has passed and the second half kicks off with a race at the most historic track on the calendar – the Faraday Future Long Beach ePrix.
So to get you prepared for the race on Saturday, here are some of the key facts and stats from last year’s race and the Formula E series so far.
Season one stats
- At 2.131km the Long Beach ePrix track is the seventh longest of the season
- With an average speed of 108.325km/h, the season one Long Beach ePrix was the fourth quickest of the season
- The absolute lap record was set by Daniel Abt in qualifying in 56.937s
- The official lap record is 58.973s and was set by Nico Prost – the first of his two fastest laps in his Formula E career so far
- The average speed of 130.086km/h Prost’s lap record means that Long Beach was the ninth fastest lap on the season one calendar
- From 20 starters, there were 16 classified finishers
- There two safety car period for a total of nine laps
- There were two different leaders – Piquet and Senna – with Piquet leading every lap except for the one during which he made his pitstop
- Abt took pole position – the only pole he has scored in Formula E. Abt had been drawn in group four and was on pole by 0.007s. It was the closest qualifying in Formula E history
- Nelson Piquet Jr’s win was his and Team China’s first in Formula E. In fact, it was the last race for Team China – it was rebranded as NEXTEV TCR for the remaining races of season one
- Second place for Jean-Eric Vergne was his first podium finish in Formula E and it remains his highest placing
- Sixth on the grid was the best starting position for Scott Speed in Formula E

- Prost’s front row start in Mexico was his seventh – the most in Formula E
- Oliver Turvey led a Formula E race for the first time in Mexico, he was the 16th different driver to lead an ePrix
- With three races having been won from pole position this season, the average starting position of the victor is 2.8. Last season the victor’s average starting position was 3.3
- On average, the races in season two have been 9.844km/h faster than last season*
- On average, the fastest race laps in season two have been 2.805km/h faster than last season*
