Alguersuari announces retirement from motorsport

Ex-Formula E racer Jaime Alguersuari has announced he is to retire from all forms of motorsport.

The 25-year-old competed in nine races last season for the Virgin Racing team but had to withdraw from the final two rounds in London due to health reasons.

“I decided to stop because it’s time for change,” Alguersuari said at a news conference in Madrid. “Something inside me says it’s the moment to take a different path because I think I have fallen out of love with this girlfriend who has been with me all these years.”

Alguersuari finished 15th in the drivers’ standings in the inaugural season of Formula E with a best result of fourth place in Buenos Aires.
