Dan Ticktum managed to climb up the grid in an unpredictable race to go from 16th to fifth - and was promoted to fourth after the race - achieving his career best result in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The Brit has 38 race entries to his name, and until this inaugural Misano E-Prix had a best result of sixth which he achieved last year in both Cape Town and Monaco for ERT.
Thanks to a strategy masterclass, both he and his teammate Sergio Sette Camara – who provisionally finished seventh – managed to finish in the points and looked to be on for their best result since Mexico City in 2018. Unfortunately, Sette Camara was handed a post-race drive-through penalty that was converted into a time penalty of 50 seconds for an overpower usage.

Ticktum’s result stayed however, which gives him 12 championship points and moves him to 15th in the Drivers’ World Championship standings.
“As we sort of predicted, it was a peloton for the first 15 to 18 laps. I am surprised other people didn't try a similar strategy who started further down the back,” Ticktum stated after the chequered flag. “We saved well, everything we did with the systems was as efficient as we possibly could have been. But a lot of it was in the driving, like lifting earlier and that was the strategy and we executed it well.
“Went for ATTACK MODE at the right time, more or less. Nailed that I think. Overtook well, same with Sergio. Obviously there’s a bit of luck involved, but everything else that was in our control we executed. That's how we end up there in these races.
“I don't think it was out of the blue, this strategy, but I am surprised other people didn't try and do it. Hats off to the team, we made some changes mechanically and with the systems that worked quite well and that’s me working well with the team and vice versa.”
UPDATE: TAG Heuer Porsche's Antonio Felix da Costa has been disqualified from the Misano E-Prix Round 6 as the throttle damper spring on Car #13 was not found in conformity with one of three optional declared items. As a result, the cars beneath da Costa in the original race classification move up a slot, meaning Nissan's Oliver Rowland inherits the race win. Read the full story
