The Kiwi is still mathematically in with a chance of securing his first Formula E title, and so these additional three points for pole will help his chances, as well as help Jaguar close up the gap in the Teams’ Standings.
“It's been tight between a bunch of us actually all day,” Evans said on his third pole position this season. ”I knew I had to do a good lap. The lap was actually not incredible compared to my other other Duel laps, but was obviously enough.
“Just a massive thanks to the team. Obviously a nice step forward, but in terms of our championship and the Teams’ Championship, three points right now is like gold. I'm happy about that. It was obviously tough against Nick Cassidy (Envision Racing). Obviously, Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti) is still very close. So I think we're in for a pretty big race.”

With Evans’ penalty, handed out after he crashed into the back of the Envision of Cassidy in Rome last time out, he now will start sixth. Cassidy, on the other hand, has inherited his first place grid slot and lines up alongside his title rival, Jake Dennis.
“I knew [the penalty] coming into the weekend, so it is what it is. I did all I really could to minimise the damage, but it doesn't help because the races here are quite fast and relatively flat out, so not as much energy saving as I would probably like. Our car is obviously quick, feeling good around here so we're trying optimise what we have and move forward.”
