“I love racing here,” Cassidy said after his win at the inaugural Southwire Portland E-Prix. “That race was fun.”
Cassidy battled with the likes of Dennis, who achieved the Julius Baer Pole Position on race day, and TAG Heuer Porsche’s Antonio Felix da Costa.
“The guys we’re racing, they’re top. Jake was the referenced point today and he did an amazing job in qualifying. I think he was unlucky to be starting on pole, to be honest. Today wasn't a race to be doing that. Antonio in these races, he's always fantastic as well.
“It's fun. It's very fun.”
Having started in 10th, Cassidy shot his way up the grid and got into sixth just a few laps into the race. Over the course of the E-Prix at the Portland international Raceway, he played the strategy game perfectly, as we have seen already over the season. He wasn’t the only one either.
“To be fair, I saw Mitch Evans and Sam Bird (Jaguar TCS Racing) up with me at stages. I saw Sebastien Buemi (Envision Racing) and we all started far back. Credit to Jaguar and Envision Racing: what a car, what a powertrain.”
