Tickets on sale for ABB FIA Formula E World Championship finale in Berlin, August 14 & 15

The 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is set to reach its climax in front of thousands of passionate spectators, with tickets on sale for the final race weekend of the season at Berlin's Tempelhof Airport on August 14 & 15.

Champions will be crowned as Formula E's maiden season as an FIA World Championship reaches its climax in Berlin, with a double-header at the Tempelhof Airport Circuit on August 14 & 15 for the Berlin E-Prix presented by CBMM Niobium Rounds 14 & 15.

In close collaboration with the Berlin authorities, ensuring a strict safety and hygiene protocol, Formula E is set to welcome ticketed spectators to an E-Prix, with sales open to the public for the first time since the pandemic began. Fans who have either been tested, vaccinated or have recovered will be able to attend and enjoy the culmination of a searingly-competitive campaign from the grandstands.

PLAN YOUR VISIT: Everything you need for your trip to Tempelhof

“Berlin is a special venue for Formula E as it is the only city that has been part of the championship every season and also hosted the last season finale in Season 6," says Formula E Chief Executive Officer Jamie Reigle. "Back then, there were six races in nine days while we were grappling with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The Berlin E-Prix 2021 will be another important event for Formula E, as the highlight of our first season as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and our first event with public spectators since the beginning of the pandemic. Returning to a metropolis like Berlin with ticket-based fans in the stands is a great moment for Formula E."

Back in the grandstands

The live experience of the race from the grandstands is tough to beat, with tickets now available on the Formula E website for the season-defining trip to Tempelhof.

A limited batch of up to 5,200 grandstand tickets are available on each race day, with requirements for entry dependent on a negative antigen rapid test - evidence of which must not be older than 24 hours - or official EU certificates for complete vaccination or recovery, which can be obtained via QR code or the CovPass app from the Robert Koch Institute. These must be presented on entry along with a passport or valid ID card.

Depending on the grandstand and seat selected, ticket prices range from €49.00 to €99.00, admission tickets for children start at 25.00.

More information on ticketing and protocols can be found at fiaformulae.com/berlin.

Passionate support

Germany is a nation of motor racing lovers, and Formula E has seen extremely strong TV numbers throughout the season. Free-to-air broadcaster SAT.1 covers all races live and recently recorded a total of 1.7 million viewers with a peak audience share of 8.2 per cent among 14-49 year olds. On average, 1.1 million viewers have tuned in live to Formula E on SAT.1 or ProSieben Maxx - the series' German broadcast partners.

Right down to the wire

Berlin played host to Season 6's nine-day six-race finale, and threw up an intense series of unmissable races which saw DS TECHEETAH's Antonio Felix da Costa crowned as champion.

This time around, as Formula E heads to its penultimate race weekend in London, home hero Sam Bird (Jaguar Racing) leads the way after a wreck to riches drive in New York City.

Just 13 points separate the top six in the Drivers' World Championship, with 25 on offer for a single race win, plus bonus points for topping Group Qualifying and setting the TAG Heuer Fastest Lap. Mathematically, that puts everyone from Bird to 15th-placed Jake Dennis (BMW i Andretti Motorsport) within a single round's worth of points of the summit.

Among the contenders are the Germans Rene Rast (Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler) and Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche), DTM champions, Maximilian Guenther (BMW i Andretti Motorsport) and Andre Lotterer (Porsche). The German works teams from Audi, BMW, Porsche and Mercedes-EQ are also fighting for race wins and titles.

SYNC: Don't miss a minute of the 2020/21 campaign, sync your calendar for all the latest

Berlin is the only double-header on the calendar that runs two variants to throw another thing to think about the way of drivers and engineers. The usual anticlockwise variant will be used on the Saturday with Sunday's finale running clockwise - adding to the pressure and making the final two rounds doubly difficult.

More than just sport

Fans won't miss a minute, but away from the track, the Allianz E-Village provides entertainment for the whole family and fans of all ages with live music, food and drink, the chance to jump into the driving seat in the simulators and a chance to see some of the latest electromobility innovations up-close - all in compliance with hygiene regulations.
