Mahindra Racing driver Alex Lynn followed up second on the grid for the DHL Valencia E-Prix Round 6 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo with a battling third spot at the chequered flag to seal his first podium in Formula E.
Energy management was key all weekend in Valencia, and other than Round 6 winner Jake Dennis (BMW i Andretti Motorsport) - who assembled an unbelievable drive to lead from lights-to-flag - Lynn was perhaps the next in line of those that squeezed the most out of the balance between pace and usable energy.

The 27-year-old slotted in-behind leader Dennis' BMW iFE.21 from the off as he looked to make the efficiency bonus of driving in the slipstream count. With the reduced aerodynamic drag, he was able to stock up on usable energy, and a late attack for the race win was on but for an over-enthusiastic move from Norman Nato - the ROKiT Venturi Racing driver nudging Lynn into the gravel at Turn 9 on Lap 18.

That put paid to a potential maiden win for Lynn, but the Brit was philosophical and still more than pleased to battle his way back through the pack from eighth after that incident to seal his first podium in the series' - and he was quick to tip his hat to compatriot Dennis.
"It’s been a long time – well, I’ve never had a Formula E podium so it was quite crazy, really,” said Lynn. “I’ve felt so close so many times so from that side, it feels super sweet.
"I have to take my hat off to Jake (Dennis), because in the end, he led from the front. Of course, it was our plan to stay behind but that puts you at risk of someone making a mistake.
"When you’re in a train like we were, you can be as patient as you like but you open yourself up to something happening like it did. So, we tried to play our hand and got a little bit unlucky but we recovered nicely, I think – thanks to the team for that.
"It was a case of just saving wherever he does. He covered our move through ATTACK MODE and we wanted to try and get him at the end. That didn’t work out but we’ll take the podium – it still feels great and we’re looking at the bigger picture."
