Formula E grid confirmed for Round 1 of the Race at Home Challenge

Formula E grid confirmed for Round 1 of the Race at Home Challenge

The run to be crowned the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge champion kicks off this Saturday as a nearly complete line-up of Formula E drivers take on the virtual Hong Kong track in round one.

After his win in the test round, BMW i Andretti Motorsport's Maximilian Guenther leads the charge of 23 official ABB FIA Formula E Championship drivers, as Nick Cassidy continues his substitute duties for Sam Bird at Envision Virgin Racing following his impressive fourth-place finish last time out.

The full entry list of Formula E drivers is:

Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler - Daniel Abt (#66) & Lucas di Grassi (#11)
BMW i Andretti Motorsport - Maximilian Günther (#28) & Alexander Sims (#27)
DS Techeetah - Antonio Felix da Costa (#13) & Jean-Eric Vergne (#25)
Envision Virgin Racing - Robin Frijns (#4) & Nick Cassidy (#2)
Geox Dragon - Brendon Hartley (#6) & Nico Müller (#7)
Mahindra Racing - Jerome D'Ambrosio (#64) & Pascal Wehrlein (#94)
Mercedes-Benz EQ - Nyck de Vries (#17) & Stoffel Vandoorne (#5)
NIO 333 - Ma Qing Hua (#33) & Oliver Turvey (#3)
Nissan e.dams - Oliver Rowland (#22) & Sébastien Buemi (#23)
Panasonic Jaguar Racing - James Calado (#51) & Mitch Evans (#20)
ROKiT Venturi Racing - Edoardo Mortara (#48) & Felipe Massa (#19)
TAG Heuer Porsche - Andre Lotterer (#36) & Neel Jani (#18)

The first round of the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge in support of UNICEF will take place around a digital recreation of the Hong Kong harbourfront circuit, home to Edoardo Mortara's (ROKiT Venturi Racing) debut win last season. The race on Saturday marks the start of the eight-round series that leads into a double-header starting the Saturday 6th June, with double points on offer in the Grand Final taking place on Sunday 7th June.

First debuted in the test round, the Race Royale format has been shaken up for the official races, as the drivers will now be eliminated from the second lap and will run until only 12 drivers remain.

With points only on offer for the top 10 positions, the surviving drivers will be left in a dramatic two-lap showdown to end the race, with both the front and back of the field fighting for points. Combined with the damage settings rising to 80%, this will give the drivers an extra challenge going forward.

Tune in for all the action from 15:30 BST tomorrow, find out all the ways you can watch.
