Formula E has teamed up with headwear giants New Era and acclaimed design studio SHOTOPOP to launch an exclusive, limited-edition cap that bridges high intensity motorsport with premium street culture. Designed specifically to celebrate Tokyo's transition into a spectacular double-header night race, this drop captures the electric pulse of Japan’s capital after dark.
Neon radiance meets tradition
When the sun sets over the Ariake waterfront, Tokyo transforms into a canvas of neon. To capture this energy, London-based creative studio SHOTOPOP looked to a legendary symbol of Japanese culture: the Koi fish.
The cap features a striking neon Koi fish intricately formed into the shape of an ‘e’, seamlessly mimicking the iconic Formula E logo.
"We wanted to create a piece that felt inherently tied to the kinetic energy of electric racing, while deeply honouring the host city," says SHOTOPOP. "The Koi represents perseverance, strength, and fluid motion - qualities shared by Formula E drivers navigating the challenging 20-turn street circuit under the Tokyo lights."
Key design features
- The neon Koi 'e': High-density embroidery featuring luminous, electric hues that pop against the cap’s dark canvas.
- Premium New Era silhouette: Crafted on New Era’s classic, high-quality structure, ensuring a perfect fit for race fans and streetwear enthusiasts alike.
- Tokyo E-Prix decals: Subtle branding commemorating the 2026 TDK Tokyo E-Prix double-header.
Immersive art: SHOTOPOP touches down in Tokyo
This collaboration goes beyond merchandise. SHOTOPOP are traveling out to Japan to immerse themselves in the high-intensity atmosphere of the Formula E paddock, and to meet fans at a dedicated photo moment in Formula E’s Fan Village, with a backdrop designed by SHOTOPOP, and fans can get their caps signed by the artistic duo. In celebration of the event, the artists have also designed an exclusive, bespoke animation that will debut during the race weekend; this custom visual experience will blend their signature bold graphic style with the roaring telemetry of GEN3 Evo cars.
