Mahindra Racing’s Nyck de Vries ended a race winning drought for both himself and the team, when he stormed to victory around the Monaco Principality for Round 9. It was a hard-earned victory, with Mahindra Racing last winning a Formula E event at the end of the GEN2 era.

“It’s the first one with Mahindra, together at least. It's been a great day. The car was amazing, and the team executed the right course at the right time.”

De Vries took an early PIT BOOST, which was a strategy that paid off massively for him and the team and put him into the lead later on in the race. From there he was forced to defend the Jaguar TCS Racings of Mitch Evans and Antonio Felix da Costa, but kept them at bay and clinched his first victory since Berlin and before he left the championship to explore new opportunities.

“We had the right energy to push during the pit window and won our first first race,” de Vries continued. “I am getting a little bit emotional because it's been a pretty rough start and we've been kind of at the receiving end for a little bit, and it just shows that you have to hang in there and better times will come.

“I mean in 20224, I joined the team and we were penultimate last year. I think we had a great year already coming to P4 in the Teams’ Championship.

“We're obviously more ambitious than that. I think the vibe within the team is great, so we just have to keep it going. I mean theoretically, this was the perfect plan, and it worked out well, but obviously, you got to do the job during the pit window, you got to have the energy and that worked out well.”
