It's been a busy week in Monaco, as the grid prepare for the double-header in Monaco. However, there's one man who has yet to ever race a lap around this principality: Joel Eriksson. The Envision driver will get his first taste of the circuit tomorrow when he gets in the car at 07:30 local time for the First Free Practice.
“It's been a dream of mine for many years. Obviously, I started watching Formula One when I was a kid. But yeah, actually, never ever was in a championship that raced here. I mean I chose the European F3 Championship and I was picked up by BMW for DTM. So I was never really in the GP2 or Formula 2 series, and neither in the Formula Renault kind of way. Never never really got the opportunity.
“It’s taken a while to be standing here, but I feel very fortunate and lucky to be able to race soon.
“Obviously, every corner is special in a way around this track. There are a few very iconic corners that I’m excited to drive, like The Casino, which as I understand it, is a very tricky one, as you become very high speed and the car gets a little bit light over the crest.
“Then obviously the hairpin and the tunnel is very special, it reminds me a little bit of London, like going inside on an outside. I mean, there is a swimming pool complex too. Every corner is so iconic in a way.”
