Maximilian Guenther has received a drop of three grid positions for today's race in Berlin, after he was found to have impeded Jake Dennis (Andretti) at the exit of T5 during qualifying.

"Car 7 [Guenther] was travelling at a reduced speed through Turn 5. The driver of Car 7 received a radio message from his engineer, informing him that Car 27 [Dennis] was behind and that it may be on a fast lap.

"The team and the driver of Car 7 accepted this radio message was rather unclear, and that it led to confusion for the driver.

"Ultimately, Car 7 was caught by Car 27, which was indeed on a fast lap, at the exit of turn 5. Car 7 obstructed Car 27, requiring Car 27 to take evasive action and compromising its lap. The Stewards determined that Car 7 unnecessarily impeded Car 27 and therefore impose the standard penalty for this type of incident."

Guenther had qualified in 11th, but will start today's race in 14th for DS PENSKE as a result.
