The first free practice session in Berlin is complete, with DS PENSKE's Taylor Barnard quickest with a time of 57.470s. He was closely followed by Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche), Jean-Eric Vergne (Citroën Racing), Maximilian Guenther (DS PENSKE) and Edoardo Mortara (Mahindra Racing) rounded out the top five.
As it happened...
The sun was out in force in Tempelhof, with cars heading out on track immediately. Jake Dennis bookmarked the best time quickly, with a 57.847s, and still maintained first place on the timesheets halfway into the session.
Pepe Marti, who is the only driver to have never raced at this iconic German circuit, was looking rapid in his CUPRA KIRO and as the session hit the 20 minute mark was just ahead of teammate Dan Ticktum, for second and third.
With 15 minutes left it was Mahindra Racing’s Nyck de Vries who was best of the rest, before Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein went better. The Porsche team are running a special ‘pink pig’ livery this weekend to celebrate not only their home race, but a tribute to their 75th motorsport anniversary.
By the time the chequered flag appeared, it was Taylor Barnard who was quickest for DS PENSKE with a 57.470s. This is a special track for Taylor, as he earned his first points here and had a good result just missing out on a podium in 2025.
