The tech side of Formula E can sometimes be challenging to get your head around, but in our latest series, Coding the Chaos, we’ve teamed up with BigTime to give you unprecedented insight into the all-electric championship.

Each episode decodes one system inside Formula E with the help of experts, engineers, mechanics and drivers within the paddock. The episodes are designed to feel accessible, whether you know lots about Formula E, or are new to the championship and are simply curious to find out more!

In episode two, Formula E and BigTime call on paddock experts to explain the complex science of regenerative braking and how teams and drivers optimise energy management to maintain performance and efficiency. The episode aims to unpack the counterintuitive idea that braking isn’t just slowing down, it’s energy recovery and ultimately, speed when it matters most.
