After one of the most spectacular showdowns in the history for Formula E took place on the streets of Santiago last season, we’re back with new cars, new drivers and new rules in a brand-new era of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.
Launched at a press conference hosted in the capital, Formula E Co-founder and Chief Championship Officer Alberto Longo was joined by Felipe Alessandri - Mayor of Santiago, Pauline Kantor - Minister of Sport, Susana Jiménez - Minister of Energy, Karla Rubilar - Intendenta de la Región Metropolitana, Iván Arriagada - Presidente Ejecutivo de Antofagasta PLC and Paolo Pallotti, Gerente General de Enel Chile.
Set in the heart of the city, all 22 drivers and their brand new Gen2 cars will battle around the 2.4km Parque O'Higgins circuit in a bid to make it to the top step of the podium. Marking the radical new Gen2 car’s debut in South America, the capital’s leafy streets will play host to the closest, most intense wheel-to-wheel combat, set to the spectacular backdrop of the Andes. 22 contestants but only one winner. Just three rounds into the Championship, it’s all still to play for.
