Having finished yesterday’s practice session yesterday third on the timesheets, Guenther will be hoping to finally get some points to his name this season after what's been a challenging start to the GEN3 era for Maserati MSG Racing.
Behind Guenther was Envision Racing’s Nick Cassidy in second, who is currently on a streak of three consecutive podiums. Double Formula E champion, DS PENSKE’s Jean-Eric Vergne, slotted into third with his teammate Stoffel Vandoorne also within the top five. Reigning champion Vandoorne also went fastest in FP1 yesterday evening. TAG Heuer Porsche’s Antonio Felix da Costa, ended the session in fourth.

It was an early start in the German sun for Free Practice 2, as the Formula E grid tried to get some heat in the tyres as they battled cooler track temperatures. Maserati’s Edoardo Mortara almost had a repeat of his FP1 incident yesterday, as an early lock up nearly sent him into the barriers.
However, only moments later, Mahindra Racing’s Oliver Rowland sent his M9Electro into the TECPRO barriers after a hefty lock up at Turn 1. Whacking his car's nose into the wall, Rowland was left stuck and the incident eventually brought out a red flag. He was given a tow back to the pit lane, with Mahindra mechanics offering up a final push into the garage. Rowland made his way back out onto the 2.4 km track in the final moments of the session, but wasn’t able to improve and stayed in 22nd.
Still suffering with a hand injury, Envision Racing’s Sebastian Buemi topped the time sheets once the session resumed with an extension for the time lost under red flag, with his teammate Nick Cassidy just behind. Buemi eventually finished the session in sixth.
As the session reached its half way point, Maximilian Guenther found himself at the top of the timesheets and would stay there. The German driver will be hoping to not only impress the home crowd this weekend, but also get his first points of the season. Having won at this Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit back in Season 6, this is a circuit that the three-time Formula E race winner is very familiar with.
ABT CUPRA’s Robin Frijns had another spin, after doing the same in FP1 yesterday. The Dutchman managed to avoid any serious damage to his ABT CUPRA with qualifying only a matter of hours away.
Once the chequered flag fell, Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans was forced to come to a halt after reporting a red light on his dashboard. Stopping at Turn 3, both Jaguar drivers still managed to finish in the top 10.
