The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to the streets of New York City for the fifth anniversary New York City E-Prix race weekend this summer with a double-header on 16 & 17 July - and tickets go on sale today at FIAFormulaE.com/NYC.

Rounds 11 & 12 of the season on Saturday and Sunday in the Big Apple each start at 13:00 EST, with the Red Hook neighborhood's Brooklyn Street Circuit once again the venue, set against the iconic backdrop of Manhattan's skyline.

Twenty-two world-class drivers from 11 leading teams including TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, Jaguar TCS Racing and reigning Drivers' and Teams' World Champions Mercedes-EQ will fight for silverware on the streets of Red Hook - the circuit a favourite of many on the grid.

Tickets are on sale now for the 2022 New York City E-Prix!

Sam Bird (Jaguar TCS Racing) is a multiple winner in NYC, including last time out alongside Round 10 victor Maximilian Guenther (Nissan e.dams). Champions Lucas di Grassi (ROKiT Venturi Racing), Jean-Eric Vergne (DS TECHEETAH) and Sebastien Buemi (Nissan e.dams) have also made the top step.

Flying the flag

Avalanche Andretti is set to race on home turf, with Oliver Askew carrying the hopes of the fans in red white and blue in the grandstands. The American driver has turned heads in Formula E so far with points on debut, and the 2019 Indy Lights champion has also competed in IndyCar and in the IMSA sportscar championship.

WAYS TO WATCH: Where and how to watch every minute of Season 8

“Racing in New York City in my first season in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is going to be a personal highlight," said Askew earlier today on the panel of ‘No Turning Back: Formula E and the Electric Future’ - the first motorsport session in 35 years of SXSW.

"The racing in Formula E is intense and the wheel-to-wheel racing makes it one of the most exciting motorsport series out there. Formula E is an incredible, unique experience for fans too, and I can’t wait to be part of what will be an unforgettable double-header race weekend in Brooklyn.”

Return to Red Hook

The 2.320km, 14-turn Red Hook race track remains largely unchanged from Formula E's last visit in 2021.

The circuit winds its way around the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal site in the heart of the Red Hook neighbourhood of Brooklyn. It's a real test; lined with miles of unforgiving concrete, with views across the Buttermilk Channel and over towards Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.

Drivers will have to get their head around a ATTACK MODE activation zone to negotiate, with the loop sitting at the exit and right on the outside of Turn 10.
