Buemi stays on top in Mexico

Once again Sebastien Buemi topped the timesheets in free practice for the Julius Baer Mexico City ePrix.

The Renault e.dams star improved on his best time from the opening session, but only by less than a tenth of a second. With Lucas di Grassi and Jean-Eric Vergne just over a tenth behind him the defending champion will have a fight on his hands to claim a first pole position of the season.

Behind the top three there was a gap of three tenths to Mahindra’s Nick Heidfeld and the second Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport entry of Daniel Abt. Season 1 champion Nelson Piquet Jr completed the top six for NextEV NIO.

In a session of little incident, Jose Maria Lopez gave his DS Virgin Racing team some work to do by clipping the wall with his right front wheel, damaging the suspension in the process.

Newcomer Esteban Gutierrez moved up the order, recording the 13th fastest time for TECHEETAH. Can he crack the top 10 in qualifying? We will find out when the action resumes at 12pm (local time).
