FIA President Ben Sulayem makes London E-Prix trip

FIA President Mohammed ben Sulayem made his first visit to an ABB FIA Formula E World Championship event this past weekend at the SABIC London E-Prix, taking in the all-electric racing series first-hand and going face-to-face with the new era, Gen3.

"The Gen3 is amazing – how it brings more power, it’s lighter and it’s more efficient," said the FIA President, who also handed out the race winner's trophy on the podium. "A lot of work has been done by both Formula E and the FIA and I would like to thank them for that. The challenges will always be there, but they are good challenges. It is the future, and the future’s bright. We have a big role to play with our partners, Formula E.

"My first experience [of a Formula E event] is great – it’s an education for me. I left Hungary to come here to the race. The location is good, it’s sending a great message and being in London is fantastic. Meeting the teams is important. When it comes to the FIA and the environment, we’re part of the solution – that’s the way we want to go forward and advance technology. I want to make the FIA a knowledge-led organisation."
