Porsche is making real strides in electrifying its range, with a third of all vehicles sold by the Stuttgart firm in Europe in 2020 having an electric or hybrid drivetrain - and the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo marks the latest entry into its expanding EV portfolio.
The Taycan Cross Turismo follows in the footsteps of the Taycan sports saloon, which has proven to be a catalyst in the company's pursuit of sustainable mobility - outselling the Boxster and Cayman.
Like its sibling, the Taycan Cross Turismo uses Porsche's innovative electric drive with 800-volt architecture. As standard, though, it adds all-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension to the party. The latter can raise and lower the car for aerodynamic efficiency at speed or give more ground clearance over rough roads or speed bumps.
With more headroom than the Taycan saloon, a Gravel Mode for optimal traction on uneven terrain, a protective bodykit with debris-deflecting winglets, 1,200 litres of load space as well as the option via the off-road pack to raise its ride height by 36mm - the Cross Turismo looks a real electric all-rounder.
The 616bhp (460kW) Turbo and Turbo S are the range-toppers, starting at £116,950 (€192,000) and £139,910 (€162,000) respectively. The Turbo S can run 751bhp (560kW) in launch mode which fires it from 0-62mph (1-100km/h) in 2.9 seconds - just 0.1 seconds shy of the Turbo S saloon. The Turbo maxes out at 280 miles (452km) of WLTP range whilst the Turbo S is good for 260 miles or 419km on a charge.
The Taycan 4 Cross Turismo is the entry point of the line-up and starts at £79,340 (€92,000). It makes use of a 375bhp (280kW) motor to power all four wheels with the car reaching 62mph from a standstill in 5.1 seconds, and a maximum speed of 137mph (220kp/h), whilst achieving a range of 283 miles or 456km.
The 4S, priced from £87,820 (€102,000), sits in the middle of the bunch, bumping power to 483bhp (260kW) and matches the Turbo's range.
