Sam Bird turns teacher for local school children in Diriyah

Alongside launching the general tickets for the 2022 Diriyah E-Prix, Jaguar TCS Racing's Sam Bird dropped by a local karting school to impart his racing knowledge to a group of school children.

As one of the original drivers in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Bird has heaps of experience having competed in every race, and with 11 wins and 22 podiums to his name he was perfect to pass on his knowledge to the next generation. So whilst in Diriyah the Brit met a group of talented young racing hopefuls to share his own story of how he reached the pinnacle of motorsport.

Bird also listened to the school children as they shared their passion for motorsport with the Jaguar driver, before waving the chequered flag on the day's track activities and posing for photographs with the group.

Bird has strong memories of racing on the streets of Saudi Arabia's birthplace. The Brit has two victories in Diriyah and marked his race-winning debut there with Jaguar last season, and he is amped to return for the double-header season-opener on 28 and 29 January 2022.

He said: "Racing under the lights of the Diriyah E-Prix is unique and provides challenges unlike any other race. Last year, Jaguar TCS Racing had great success, including my first win for the team. The Diriyah Circuit is technical, fast and challenging all at the same time and I look forward to returning for the races in January 2022."
