Five-place grid drop for Buemi

Points leader to line-up seventh after fire extinguisher infringement

Five-place grid drop for Buemi

FIA Formula E Championship points leader Sebastien Buemi has been handed a five-place grid penalty – and fined €2500 – for running with an underweight fire extinguisher in qualifying.

Post-session checks revealed the mandatory safety item on the Renault e.dams car to be 3.25kg under the stipulated minimum.

The penalty means Buemi will start seventh, promoting Sam Bird to second, Nelson Piquet Jr to third, Jean-Eric Vergne to fourth, Daniel Abt for fifth and Nico Prost to sixth.

The race starts at 4pm (GMT) this afternoon.
