Vergne's victory required a remarkable performance, and you noticed as it's your winner of the Hyderabad Moment of the Day with 50% of the vote.

Nick Cassidy's fight to second came in at number two with 19%, followed by Antonio Felix da Costa's podium in his 100th race and pole position from Mitch Evans receiving 16% and 15% of vote respectively.

Coming into the race the form book was sitting squarely in the laps of Jaguar, with Mitch Evans putting the factory Jaguar TCS Racing machine on pole. After struggling in the first three rounds, Vergne put in a valiant effort to make it through to the Duels and ultimately start the race on the front row of the grid in second.

With both Jaguars skittling themselves out of contention at the hairpin, Vergne hit the front after flying by Sebastien Buemi's Envision Racing machine racing for the lead.

FACTS AND STATS: More Season 8 records fall, a new team on top and JEV's records

It was the closing stages of the race that will mark this as one of JEV's best races in Formula E. With Nick Cassidy pursuing the Frenchman in his energy-rich Envison, almost four percent up on the black and gold DS PENSKE in the lead. Vergne drove a defensive and energy management masterclass.

Heading into the final lap and just one percent of useable energy remaining, the double champion made his DS PENSKE as wide as possible, giving the chasing New Zealander absolutely no opportunity to pass, placing his car just right to block off any moves but also pick up some vital regen to get to the chequered flag.

It was enough for Vergne to seal his 11th win and return to the top step in Formula E, ending a near two-year winless streak dating back to Rome in 2021 - as summarised by commentator, Jack Nicholls, that race was Vergne back to his vintage best.
