Tickets are now on sale for the 2016 FIA Formula E HKT Hong Kong ePrix, offering fans the opportunity to experience a full weekend of excitement and entertainment both on and off the track.

The world’s first fully-electric racing series will be taking to the streets of Hong Kong for the very first time in October, with an electrifying array of support events over the course of two days on the Central Harbourfront (October 8-9).

Speaking at today’s press conference in Hong Kong in front of a gathering of media and local authorities, along with Team Aguri driver Ma Qing Hua, and actress and former Miss Hong Kong Michelle Reis, Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag said: “The Hong Kong ePrix has the potential to be one of Formula E’s premier events. The circuit is located right in the heart of the city, winding its way around some of the most iconic landmarks. We are looking forward to welcoming a passionate and enthusiastic crowd to witness the inaugural running of Formula E in Hong Kong, none of which would have been possible without the tremendous help and support of the government and city authorities.”

Grandstands along the pit straight on Lung Wo Road, Tamar Park and The Hong Kong Observation Wheel will offer unrivalled views of the track and Hong Kong’s spectacular city skyline.

Weekend tickets are priced at $2,380 (HKD), with concession prices for children (aged 12 and under) and senior citizens (aged 65 and above) from just $1,190. Grandstand tickets include admission to the eVillage fan zones located around the circuit.

Access to the eVillage costs $300 for a two-day pass. Senior citizens (aged 65 and above) and children (aged 12 and under) tickets are $150. eVillage entry does not include access to grandstand seating or guarantee a view of the track.

Alan Fang, Chief Executive Officer of Formula Electric Racing Hong Kong, said: “Formula E is shaping the future of sports events, where entertainment and motorsport meet to create the ultimate event experience. To share the unique occasion of the inaugural Formula E race with all of Hong Kong, we have priced tickets to ensure that people from all walks of life will be able to experience this pioneering event and to rally the public behind our #DrivetheFuture campaign.”

Gregory So, the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (SCED) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said: “The government fully supports the introduction of the FIA Formula E Championship to Hong Kong this year. Not only will this world-class novel car race become a Hong Kong people’s event, it will showcase our splendid skyline and harbour view to the world, hence enriching the tourism appeal of Hong Kong and reinforcing our position as an events capital of Asia. We are delighted to learn that the organizer and the tourism trade have developed a number of tourist packages for our visitors to enjoy the race, which will give an impetus to our tourism development.”

Hong Kong Telecom (HKT), title sponsor of the Hong Kong ePrix, will help drive the fan experience over the race weekend through the provision of free Wi-Fi services around the circuit, empowering spectators to share the excitement of the first-ever Formula E race in Hong Kong.

Alex Arena, Group Managing Director of HKT, said: “HKT and Formula E share a common belief in pursuing innovation, leadership, sustainability and speed. We see this partnership as a great opportunity to demonstrate our leading expertise in connectivity and technology during the event.”

Members of HKT’s loyalty programme, The Club, will also enjoy special privileges around the Hong Kong ePrix, including exclusive ticket offers, collectable edition Tap & Go cards, The Wheel tickets and other exclusive gifts and bonuses.

The HKT Hong Kong ePrix will take place on October 9 2016 subject to FIA track homologation. The 2km circuit will run between Lung Wo Road and the Star Ferry, with cars reaching speeds of up to 225kph (140mph).
