Beth Paretta will become Citroën Racing’s Team Principal, with Frederic Espinos also joining the management structure, as the team share details of their new GEN4 livery ahead of the next chapter for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
After supporting the team as Managing Director throughout its first season, Beth Paretta has been appointed Citroën Racing’s Team Principal for the 2026/27 Formula E season. She’ll be joined by Fred Espinos, who was previously Deputy Team Principal at the Lola Yamaha ABT squad.
The confirmation of a new Team Principal for Citroën Racing comes after the tragic passing of Cyril Blais – a highly-respected and well-loved member of the all-electric championship – who previously held that role within the team.
Blais’ death was felt far and wide across Formula E, and motor racing, with the championship commemorating his life over the Tokyo double-header event earlier this year, where Nick Cassidy was able to achieve two back-to-back podiums for the team in his honour.
Alongside this management structure reshuffle, the team proudly showed off its new look for the next chapter of Formula E, with the team still sticking to that iconic red, white and blue that was so-loved by fans in the 2025/26 campaign.
Citroën’s new GEN4 livery
Pierre Leclercq, Head of Citroën Design, explains, the objective of the new livery was to “retain the strong identity developed last season while adapting it to the more dynamic character of GEN4.” The more metallic finishes have also been designed so that “the car truly comes to life when it catches the light”, while the gradient is based on a parametric use of the chevrons, whose density progressively changes between the different shades.
Earlier this month, the team announced they were reuniting with TotalEnergies in GEN4 – a collaboration between two automotive giants that dates back to 1968, with particular success in rallying. Since 1968, Citroën and TotalEnergies have evolved side by side, both on the road and in competition, united by a shared culture of innovation, performance and the pursuit of excellence. This pairing now extends into their newest project: Formula E.

For Paretta, who brings extensive motorsport experience spanning team management, the automotive industry and sporting governance, the GEN4 era brings new opportunities.
“GEN4 is much more than an evolution of the previous car: it is faster, more powerful and technologically more advanced, and it will change the way we approach race weekends,” Paretta stated. “For Citroën Racing, success will be about making the most of that opportunity from the very beginning.
“We feel well prepared, we have the strength and expertise of Stellantis Motorsport behind us, and we have a brand that is fully committed to the programme. Our objective is to translate all of that into being competitive out of the gate with strong performance on track.
“Formula E is important for Citroen strategically as it provides the opportunity to push electric technologies through competition which, in turn, will make future Citroen Road cars better. I am excited to be aligned with Citroën because it is a brand for all people, and I love the fact that our fans can support the team on track while having a Citroën as part of their everyday lives. Racing, technology and that connection with people all come together here, and that makes this project very special.”
A new challenge for Fred Espinos
This new role of Deputy Team Principal at Citroën Racing comes after Espinos, who has progressed up through the championship having started as Sporting Manager with ABT Sportsline and will now help with the iconic French manufacturer as a new era begins.
Espinos, who was chosen to represent his former Lola Yamaha ABT team on the Shanghai podium when Lucas di Grassi snatched a shock victory earlier this year, this is an opportunity that feels like the right challenge at the right time.
“I’m very proud to join the team at such an important stage in its development,” he said. “This is a project that brings together many of the ingredients needed to succeed: a brand with a strong motorsport heritage, an experienced team, two top-level drivers and a clear ambition as we enter the GEN4 era. I’m very happy to bring my Formula E experience to this group and to work alongside Beth and the entire team. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but the objective is clear: to be ready from the very start of the season.”
Who will be driving for Citroën Racing?
Both Nick Cassidy and Jean-Eric Vergne are already confirmed to be returning to their roles as full-time drivers for the Citroën Racing team in the 2026/27 season – the first of the thrilling new GEN4 era.
The two drivers, with 23 wins between them across their respective time in the all-electric championship, are one of the most experienced duos on the grid.
In their – and the team’s – first season in Formula E, they both achieved podiums and Cassidy delivered the team a victory in just their second single-seater race at the 2026 Mexico City E-Prix.
They’re now ready for a new challenge as the championship enters its new GEN4 era, with new cars, circuits and teams entering the world of Formula E electric racing.
The 2026/27 Formula E season will commence in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on December 18 & 19.
