The season so far: 2019 Paris E-Prix

Still, after seven rounds, the streak continues. Seven different winners from seven different teams in seven races make the 2018/19 season of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship one the most unpredictable race series on the planet. With just days to go until the race in Paris on April 27, we take a look back at the season so far.

The Magnificent Seven

With seven different winners in seven races, the Championship has seen some of the least likely lads take to the top step of the Podium. To date, Venturi’s Edoardo Mortara and Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s Mitch Evans brought home both their and the team’s maiden Formula E victory this season in Hong Kong and Rome. Meanwhile, our reigning Champ Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Techeetah) and motorsport master Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler) have clinched the win only once. Against the odds, underdogs Jerome d’Ambrosio (Mahindra Racing) and BMW i Andretti Autosport’s Antonio Felix da Costa took the first two wins of the season while Championship hopeful Sam Bird made it so in Santiago. Could we make it eight in eight in Paris?

Champion in trouble...again

For our key protagonist and reigning Champion, Paris is more than the most beautiful inner-city street race in the calendar. It’s make or break for the Frenchman. Born in Paris, the round in Les Invalides is his home race – the chance to prove himself in front of his countrymen on home turf – but it also presents the opportunity to clinch a much-needed win. After seven rounds, Vergne finds himself seventh in the standings with 54 points. That said, race leader Jerome d’Ambrosio is only eleven points ahead of the Frenchman with 65. A win here for JEV would boost his standing in the Championship, not to mention his confidence.

8 countries, 5 continents – the battle continues

In the season so far, we’ve already covered off eight races in the same number of countries across five continents. The best news? We’re not even close to the end yet. As the Championship’s voestalpine European races roll on, we storm into Paris for the race on April 27 before dropping down to Monaco, Berlin and Bern before finishing up in New York City. Buckle up, the best is yet to come.
