Formula E paddock pays tribute to Sir Frank Williams

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship paid tribute and its respects to a motorsport great, Sir Frank Williams, on Monday in Valencia.

The paddock observed a minute’s silence followed by applause in memory of the founder and former team principal of the Williams Racing Formula 1 Team, who has passed away, aged 79.

Williams won nine constructors’ championships and seven drivers’ titles during his time with his team, which dominated throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

Sir Frank Williams’ passion and pioneering spirit, as well as his tenacity, helped shape motorsport and Williams Advanced Engineering – born out of the F1 team in 2010 – playing a pivotal role in Formula E’s foundation as the first supplier of batteries to the championship back in 2014/15, and will continue to do so into our future as the supplier to Gen3.
