Mexico City all set to welcome in Gen3 era

Mexico City all set to welcome in Gen3 era

Mexico City is to host the opening round of Gen3 and the debut of the fastest, lightest, most powerful, sustainable and efficient electric race car ever built at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez track on Saturday 14 January, 2023, with tickets now on sale starting from MX$250.

Season 9 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will kick off at one of the most historically exciting venues on the calendar, where after record-breaking success in February 2022, 40,000 Mexican fans will once again rock the stands of the Foro Sol and beyond, cheering on the championship's 22 drivers.

Off-track, the renovated Fan Village will feature interactive activities for the whole family, offering delicious food, live entertainment, race car simulators for fans to test their driving skills and much more.

“Next Season’s Mexico City E-Prix will be one of the most anticipated and spectacular races in Formula E’s history," said Alberto Longo, Chief Championship Officer and Co-Founder, Formula E. "Racing our new Gen3 car in front of fans for the first time, combined with new drivers and teams including McLaren and Maserati, we yet again expect the race to be a huge success. We can’t wait to build upon last year’s electric atmosphere and once again showcase the pinnacle of electric racing in this new era of technology and electric racing.”

Alvaro Buenaventura – Director, LatAm Formula E – added:“We are thrilled to be back in Mexico City for our first race of the Gen3 era. It is our eighth consecutive year coming to this Capital and consolidates it as one of the oldest races in the calendar and a favorite of our fans. Motorsport is booming in this country and we are committed to continue bringing a show of the highest level - on and off track - for the whole family to enjoy at affordable prices for citizens.”

The Season 9 race will air live on Mexico across Azteca Deportes, Fox Sports and Claro Sports.
