Nick Cassidy has given Citroën Racing their first ABB Formula E podium, after a late race charge at the 2025 Google Cloud São Paulo E-Prix.
After a tough qualifying session, Cassidy qualified for the race in P15, but an audacious move on lap 19 which saw the kiwi use his ATTACK MODE and overtake multiple cars down the straight, quickly put him in the mix.

“Very very happy for everyone in our team, it’s been a really cool start and I’ve really enjoyed the last few months and everything we’ve gone through to arrive here” Cassidy said.
Not even the late race Red Flag could stop the Kiwi from taking his first podium for Citroën, but Cassidy acknowledges that there’s still work to be done - especially in qualifying.
“I was kind of heartbroken with qualifying, to be honest, not only for myself but for all the guys, because I think they deserved better than that.
“We had a really good car all weekend, and so I’m glad to show that in the race.”
Even for an experienced driver like Cassidy, joining a new team and getting up to speed can be a challenge, but this is one he seems to be relishing.
“We’ve been working hard and of course that means that you feel the highs more but you also feel the lows more, but to start with a podium is the best thing,” Cassidy explained.
How Citroën Racing are making history in the Formula E World Championship
The appreciation between Cassidy and his new ABB Formula E home is definitely mutual, with Federico Goyret, Citroën’s Global Marketing Director, praising Cassidy for the technical insight that he has brought to the team ahead of Season 12.
“He has a really great personality, and above all, he's a very technical driver. The feedback that he gives about the performance of the car is helping us, not only this season, but fundamentally preparing GEN4. Having a driver that can help you develop the car. Is it worth its weight in gold, and he's a great driver,” Goyret said.

As for what might be possible in upcoming races, only time will tell, but this could be the start of something special for Cassidy at Citroën.
“They’re a great group of people and looking forward to hopefully what’s the start of something pretty cool.”
