Antonio Giovinazzi (DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT) secured his best grid slot of the year ahead of the SABIC London E-Prix Round 14 with third position - on his first Duels appearance in Formula E.
The Italian's teammate had showed that the DRAGON had good pace in qualifying trim having lined up fourth for race one. He fell away towards the end of the race as his usable energy became marginal but had mixed it with the podium finishers throughout. Giovinazzi is hoping he can employ a staunch defence and follow up a maiden Duels appearance - defeating the reigning champion, Nyck de Vries (Mercedes-EQ) along the way, no less - with his first points in the series.
"I'm keeping very positive to get my first points of the season and you thanks to all the team. We've shown yesterday already that the car is really good in qualifying and I made a mistake on Saturday but today was clean and I went better to get P3 for the race. We know that in our simulator we aren't as strong on race pace as some of the others but it's a narrow track here and anything can happen. So, if we can defend, we can say that points are the main goal of today.
"It was really cool being in the Duels, especially going out lap to push at 250kW. We didn't make the final but it's still good enough and let's see what we can do in the race!"
