Lucas Mueller takes the fight to Kevin Siggy ahead of Challenge Grid Grand Final

Lucas Mueller wins Round 7 to send a message to Kevin Siggy ahead of the Grand Final of the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge in support of UNICEF.

With a 1:11.006 second lap around the New York City circuit, Lucas Mueller ended Kevin Siggy's run of pole positions in the Challenge Grid.

The top sim racing contenders were all up at the sharp end with Joshua Rogers and Petar Brljak taking the next row on the grid. Kush Maini continued to make impressive strides, ending qualifying in fifth, and the top real-world racer, just ahead of Peyo Peev.

As the drivers charged into Turn 1, Mueller kept hold of the lead and a lid on Siggy's attempts. The field made it cleanly through the first sector with Rogers and Maini moving up a position, while Brljak rounded out the top five.

On lap five, with points vital in deciding the Grand Final grid, the battle further down the field was heating up - Alisdair Irvine holding off the advances of the drivers behind him for the final point.

Siggy kept Mueller within his sights throughout the opening laps but the young German began to open a gap over his Slovenian rival, with Siggy now having to contend with Rogers all over his rear diffuser.

After a race-long battle, Irvine lost two places at the last with a mistake, relinquishing 10th position and the last point on offer to Niek Jacobs.

Crossing the finish line with a large grin on his race, Mueller completed a dominant performance around New York City to secure second on the grid in the Grand Final. Siggy followed in second with Rogers third.
