Who’s On the Grid? Formula E’s 2026/27 Driver Lineup So Far

Ahead of the 2026/27 season – and the start of Formula E's GEN4 era – here are the drivers confirmed to be racing on the grid.

Felipe Drugovich (L), Pepe Martí, and Pascal Wehrlein (R) have all signed new contracts for the GEN4 era.

Ahead of Pre-Season Testing in Jarama, Madrid, next month, these are the drivers that have secured race seats for the 2026/27 Formula E season – the first of the all-new and exciting GEN4 era.

From respected rookies, big driver changes and the return of lots of familiar faces, these are all the drivers that will be taking to the track for the first-taste of GEN4 across the 2026/27 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season when the season starts on 18 December in Jeddah.

Who are the new drivers this season?

Currently, there are two new names with full-time Formula E seats for next season. First to be announced is French driver Théo Pourchaire with the Opel GSE Formula E Team. Known as one of racing’s brightest talents, Pourchaire works as a Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Development Driver and is a former Formula 2 World Champion.

Elsewhere, Paysafe Envision Racing announced Zak O'Sullivan would be promoted to a full-time seat, after the Brit has been the team’s Simulator Driver and participated in several Rookie Tests for them over the GEN3 era. O'Sullivan has also been busy in Super Formula this year, and won the prestigious Autosport BRDC Award in 2021.

What are the big driver changes in Formula E this season?

A new era of the all-electric championship resulted in quite the driver market reshuffle, with lots of drivers changing teams during our off-season. Dan Ticktum has relocated to the new Fortescue Zero Racing team, Zane Maloney has moved to Nissan and Mitch Evans departed Jaguar TCS Racing after a decade to switch things up with the new Opel entry. Maximilian Gunther has also joined Envision for the new season, with Jake Hughes returning after a year out and partnering up with CUPRA KIRO.

Andretti Formula E

Drivers: Jake Dennis and Felipe Drugovich

Andretti have retained the same driver line-up as last season, bringing back 2022/23 World Champion Jake Dennis who signed a multi-year deal with the team earlier this year. Dennis, who won his title with the Andretti squad, managed two wins, two pole positions and six podiums with the American outfit last season.

On the other side of the garage, Brazilian Felipe Drugovich will return for a second season in Formula E. In his debut season, the Formula 2 champion managed a podium and pole position, and will look to add to that tally in the GEN4 era.

Citroën Racing

Drivers: Nick Cassidy and Jean-Eric Vergne

Another unchanged line-up for the 2026/27 season is Citroën Racing, who have continued with their driver pairing. Two-time Formula E Champion Jean-Eric Vergne is now the grid’s most experienced driver, having started 163 races during his time here with 11 wins and 39 podiums to his name ahead of the start of GEN4.

For Nick Cassidy, last season was a successful one with five podiums and a win for Citroën in their first season of single seater racing. Cassidy stood on the top step of the podium 11 times during the GEN3 era, making him the most successful driver of that era of Formula E.

CUPRA KIRO

Drivers: Pepe Martí and Jake Hughes

Josep Maria "Pepe" Martí will be back for another season at CUPRA KIRO, after a brilliant rookie year at the team last season. The Spanish superstar – and former Red Bull Junior – banked two podiums and 66 points in his first Formula E campaign, and impressed a lot of the paddock.

He will be teammates with Jake Hughes, who returns to the Formula E World Championship after a year out. The Briton is rapid, which can be seen from his four pole positions in Formula E before GEN4 and has been able to collect two podiums during his 47 race starts to date, racing for McLaren and Maserati. After being a Reserve and Simulator driver for Mahindra Racing last season, Hughes is back in a full-time seat at CUPRA KIRO.

Fortescue Zero Racing

Drivers: Taylor Barnard and Dan Ticktum

Formula E’s first Australian team has picked two of the most talented drivers on the grid for their debut season. First up is Taylor Barnard, who has more records to his name than most drivers combined. From youngest-ever Formula E race winner – which he achieved in London earlier this year – to youngest race starter, youngest points scorer, youngest podium finisher and youngest pole position holder, Barnard has ticked them all off and hopes to add to his trophy cabinet for Fortescue Zero in GEN4.

His teammate will be Dan Ticktum, who makes the swap from CUPRA KIRO to Fortescue Zero this season. The two-time race winner has been a part of Formula E for several seasons now, and is known for his pure speed with three pole positions and the person chosen to drive the GEN4 up the iconic Goodwood Hill across this year’s Festival of Speed.

Jaguar TCS Racing

Drivers: Antonio Felix da Costa and TBC

So far at Jaguar TCS Racing, only one driver has been locked in. 2019/20 Champion Antonio Felix da Costa returns for a second year with the squad, and will have a new teammate after the departure of Mitch Evans after 10 years at the team. The Portuguese racer is one of the championship’s most experienced pairs of hands, and in his first season with Jaguar managed five podiums and two wins – with the latter being added to give him 14 Formula E wins, the joint-second highest of any driver in the history of the championship.

Lola Formula E Team

Drivers: TBC and TBC

As it stands, the Lola Formula E Team have yet to announce who they will be signing for the first season of GEN4. After the retirement of Lucas di Grassi from racing and the departure of Zane Maloney, the iconic racing team are guaranteed to bring in two different drivers for their 2026/27 campaign.

Mahindra Racing

Drivers: Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara

There will be no change at the Mahindra Racing team, as they opt to keep their excellent driver pairing for another season. 2020/21 World Champion Nyck de Vries will be back for another year of racing in Formula E, and hoping to add to his solid 2025/26 campaign, where he picked up two wins for Mahindra – ending a four-year drought for the team – and four podiums.

Also at Mahindra is Edoardo Mortara, who has 128 career race starts to his name after making his Formula E debut almost a decade ago. During that time he’s managed six wins, seven pole positions – four of which were last season – and 18 podiums.

Nissan Formula E Team

Drivers: Oliver Rowland and Zane Maloney

There is some change at Nissan for the 2026/27 season, with the new addition of Zane Maloney. The boy from Barbados has been on the Formula E grid for the last two seasons, and moves up to the Japanese manufacturer – and one of the championship’s most successful teams – for the GEN4 era. After stints in Formula 3 and Formula 2 before joining the Formula E grid full-time, Maloney is tipped as one to watch in GEN4.

On the other side of the garage, the partnership between 2024/25 World Champion Oliver Rowland and Nissan continues. For Rowland, who made his debut at the 2015 Punta del Este E-Prix, it has been a rollercoaster journey in the all-electric championship. 112 race starts, 10 podiums, eight wins and one World Championship later, Rowland is back with Nissan to collect more silverware in this new era, in a role he balances alongside being a manager and mentor to Racing Bull's driver Arvid Lindblad in Formula 1.

Opel GSE Formula E Team

Drivers: Mitch Evans and Théo Pourchaire

One of the biggest moves in Formula E history sees Mitch Evans start a new chapter at the Opel GSE Formula E Team this season. Opel, who are new to the championship this season, have signed Evans after he completed a decade at the Jaguar team. For Evans – who has banked the most wins of any driver during his time in Formula E – he says this new start has come at the right time in his racing career.

As well as experience, Opel have opted for youth with big junior talent Théo Pourchaire joining the Formula E grid in 2026/27. In addition to his former responsibilities as Citroën’s Rookie and Test driver last season, Pourchaire has also been racing in the World Endurance Championship – like a lot of our grid – and was the 2023 FIA Formula 2 Champion.

Paysafe Envision Formula E Team

Drivers: Maximilian Guenther and Zak O'Sullivan

The Paysafe Envision Formula E Team have opted for a fresh new line-up for the first season of GEN4, bringing in Maximilian Guenther on one side of their very green team garage. The German, who has seven wins across his time in the championship, has raced for several teams up and down the grid and is one of the most adaptable talents out there.

The team have also promoted Zak O'Sullivan after several years of using him as their Simulator and Rookie driver. Having raced in Japan this year – competing in both Super Formula and Super GT – GT300 – O'Sullivan is no stranger to single-seaters, having raced in FIA Formula 2 and 3, as well as completing a Formula 1 Free Practice session with Williams Racing in 2023.

Porsche Formula E Team

Drivers: Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller

For the factory Porsche Formula E Team – and the reigning Manufacturers’ Champions – the driver line-up remains unchanged. Current World Champion Pascal Wehrlein will be back with the Porsche team, having become the second person to secure more than one drivers’ title in Formula E. With three wins last season, six podiums and four pole positions, the pairing of two German giants clearly works and the trophy cabinet is proof of that.

Nico Müller has also been a brilliant addition to the Porsche team, and last season earned his first victory in the all-electric championship in one of their machines. It’s a strong driver pairing, and will continue into the first season of the GEN4 era.

Porsche's second team entry for the 2026/27 season has not yet confirmed any driver signings.
