Ticktum set for Season 9 return with NIO 333

Ticktum set for Season 9 return with NIO 333

Dan Ticktum will compete a second year in Formula E with NIO 333, with the Brit signing on for Gen3's bow and Season 9 with the Anglo-Chinese outfit.

Ticktum impressed in his debut campaign, regularly mixing it with outgoing teammate Oliver Turvey. His season high came in Rome with points and 10th spot.

Ticktum revealed over social media that he too had been in-car since the Seoul finale, and was at the team's Silverstone HQ for a seat fit on Tuesday morning.

"I've been in the car a couple of times and it's a big step forward from Gen2; I have to say, I've really enjoyed it so far," said the 23-year-old. "I'm really looking forward to getting cracking with this new era of electric racing."

Turvey bows out of NIO

Sergio Sette Camara signed for NIO 333 in September, and has since tested the team's ER9 Gen3 in both Italy and England as the team steps up its preparations for Season 9 and Formula E's new era.

With the announcement that Ticktum would join him, one of Formula E's longest-standing, most experienced racers in Oliver Turvey says his goodbyes to the team - having been a part of the squad from the inaugural 2014/15 campaign.

Often regarded among the drivers as the "dark horse" - among the most underrated racers on the grid - Turvey leaves NIO with a best of 10th spot overall in the Drivers' standings back in 2017/18; a season in which he also secured his best result of second position in Mexico City.
