GIRLS ON TRACK DIARY: On the podium with Myrah Arsalan in Diriyah

Myrah Arsalan was on hand to dive into everything motorsport and Formula E with FIA Girls on Track at the 2024 Diriyah E-Prix. It was a day she would never forget with valuable insight, karting with FIA Girls on Track advocate Reem Al Aboud and presenting a trophy on the podium. Here is what Myrah had to say about her experience.

On 22nd January 2024, I set off on an incredible journey. For months, I was so excited about Formula E’s FIA Girls On Track Day, and today was the day when my dreams were about to come true.

As I arrived at the race track, I could feel my excitement building. Girls of all ages and backgrounds were gathered together, ready to begin the day. Across the day, these girls became my friends, and it was amazing meeting other girls who shared the same interests as me.

The aim of the day was to encourage young girls to explore the world of motorsport and ignite a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects. This was perfect for my love for cars and interest in science, and I couldn’t wait to start!

I met so many amazing women who showed me a career in motorsport is possible, and I should never give up on my dreams.

Throughout the day, I participated in various workshops and activities. I learned about the mechanics of electric cars, experienced driving a racing simulator, and even had the opportunity to interact with inspiring women in the motorsport industry. As the day progressed, we were able to experience a pit lane walk, and even got to speak to some of the drivers!

Then, the best thing happened – I was approached by the organisers of the event who asked if I would like to be on the podium to present one of the trophies. I couldn’t believe it. I was so excited!

Dressed in my FIA Girls on Track t-shirt, we met with the organisers who accompanied me and two other girls to the podium before the race finished. With my heart pounding, we made our way onto the podium in front of all the fans. As I stood beside the other girls on the podium, I couldn't help but feel a rush of inspiration run through my veins. This was a moment that would forever be in my memory.

With a proud smile, I presented the gleaming trophy, something I never thought I would do.

From that day forward, my love for motorsports and STEM has grown stronger. I met so many amazing women at FIA Girls on Track who showed me a career in motorsport is possible, and I should never give up on my dreams. I believe it is so important to encourage girls like me to follow their dreams and FIA Girls on Track has sparked a fire within my heart that will continue to burn brightly for years to come.

Formula E and FIA Girls On Track Day not only allowed me to participate in educational and fun activities but also empowered me to believe in myself and dream big.
