Andre Lotterer will join Avalanche Andretti in Season 9, partnering Jake Dennis for the start of the Gen3 era of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
With five seasons in Formula E, three of which came at the wheel of the works TAG Heuer Porsche where the German scored four second place finishes, he now switches to the American-run Andretti outfit who will be getting powered by the Stuttgart squad in Gen3.
The 40-year-old from Duisburg has had a storied motorsport career. On top of a total of eight podiums in Formula E he also boasts success in Japan with title success in Super GT and Super Formula alongside an impressive endurance racing career, securing the World Endurance Championship in 2012 and winning the historic 24 Hours of Le Mans three-times. The German will be on dual duties in 2023 complementing his time at Andretti with Porsche's LMDh programme.
Speaking on joining Andretti for Season 9, Lotterer commented: “I’m excited to be joining Avalanche Andretti for Season 9 and the start of the Gen3 era. Working together with Jake [Dennis] will be a great combination to continue to push the team to the front of the field in Formula E.”
Michael Andretti, CEO and Chairman, and Team Principal Roger Griffiths were both in agreement that Lotterer's experience will bring a lot to the plate for Avalanche Andretti as they embark on the Gen3 era of Formula E.
