Sette Camara first to be confirmed at rebranded DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT

Sette Camara first to be confirmed at rebranded DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT

Sergio Sette Camara returns to the all-American DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT for 2020/21 having deputised for them in the six race finale in Berlin last season.

The Brazilian's association with the Dragon squad started with an impressive performance finishing second in the annual Marrakesh Rookie Test.

With Brendon Hartley stepping away from the team ahead of the 2019/20 season finale in Berlin, the Brazilian was promoted to a race seat from his role as test and reserve driver to close out Dragon's season 6 campaign.

Steep learning curve

On the verge of his first full season in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Sette Camara gained a lot of experience in a short period over nine days at Berlin Tempelhof, he said: "I learned a lot about optimising the Formula E car and working within the race format, as it is very different from the other machinery in which I have raced."

"I spent a lot of time working with the engineering team learning how to deploy our energy in the most efficient way to achieve the best result weekend.

"There was a steep curve for me, and I am excited to apply my learnings, and the work we have done in the off-season to my first full season with the team," concluded Sette Camara.

Looking to the season ahead, the Brazilian added: "My target is to bring the best result possible after each race, to have a steep learning curve in the series, and to enjoy my time with the DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT crew! It is my goal to grow with the team and continue with the positive momentum we started together in Berlin, to consistently compete for points this season."

Preview of what is to come

Sette Camara demonstrated what he was capable of last season, with a glowing performance in the Rookie Test and then being dropped in the deep end in Berlin.

Team principal, Jay Penske commented on the Brazilian's full-time appointment with the team: "Sergio gave everyone a preview of what is to come in his first six races with the Team in Berlin. I have been pleased with Sergio's pace and the rate at which he adapted to the rigors of electric racing.

"With the PENSKE EV-5 package and advancements we are making across the board, I expect him to convert the potential he showed in Berlin into consistent points finishes in his first full season with DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT."

Grid coming together

With Sette Camara now confirmed at Dragon that leaves just three vacant seats left to fill on the grid, one alongside the Brazilian and the other open slots at Mahindra Racing and NIO 333.

The full grid of 24 drivers will make their first public appearance at the official Formula E pre-season test at Valencia from November 28 - December 1. Keep your eyes locked to FIAFormulaE.com for all the latest from Valencia.
