I-Pace eTrophy reveals new calendar for 2019/20 season, adds ATTACK MODE

After a successful first season, the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy releases its calendar for the 2019/20 season alongside adopting the radical new ATTACK MODE for its second season.

I-Pace eTrophy reveals new calendar for 2019/20 season, adds ATTACK MODE

After the inaugural Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy championship saw Sergio Jimenez's race to victory in the double-header finale in New York City, the official ABB FIA Formula E Championship support series has released the calendar for its second season.

Following the path of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, the second season of the all-electric support series will consist of ten rounds, starting with two double-headers in Saudi Arabia on November 22 - 23, before heading to Mexico City, Hong Kong, Rome, Paris, Berlin and New York City. Rounding off the season, all teams will battle it out in a final double-header in London's ExCeL Centre in a bid to clinch the championship title.

With ATTACK MODE successfully spicing up the racing action in Formula E, the second season of the I-Pace eTrophy will see all teams and drivers benefit from the energy boost. With successful trials completed in New York in July, drivers will be able to take advantage of the extra power by driving through the ATTACK MODE Activation Zone, located off the racing line, leading to more overtaking.

“It’s exciting to look forward to season two of the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY and reveal the exciting locations for our second year," said James Barclay, Jaguar Racing Team Director.

"New for season two is the London double-header which is a fantastic opportunity to race the I-Pace eTrophy twice in front of our home crowds.

"We are also excited to bring “ATTACK MODE” to the series. It has been a big success in Formula E and I am sure it will also inject even more excitement into eTrophy.”

After becoming the first premium manufacturer to enter the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in 2016, the British car manufacturer created the world’s first production battery electric vehicle race series. Making history as the first and only support race to the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, the series saw up to 20 cars taking to the grid with a mixture of PRO and PRO-AM drivers. Based on the all-electric Jaguar I-Pace road car, the spec race cars share the same batteries, motor and inverter as the Jaguar I-Pace.

In its inaugural season the fight for the championship went down to the final race weekend, with Sergio Jimenez, Jaguar Brazil Racing driver, crowned the first-ever Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy champion. In the PRO-AM class, it was Saudi Racing driver, Bandar Alesayi, who took the title after leading the PRO-AM championship for the whole season. As part of his prize package, Sergio will also get behind the wheel of a Formula E car at an official test before the start of the season.
