Da Costa sets new lap record ahead of Qualifying in Mexico City

Antonio Felix da Costa (BMW i Andretti Motorsport) leads the way ahead of Qualifying here in Mexico City after setting a new lap record with a time of 58.963s around the 2.093km Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit. The Portuguese driver was followed by Venturi's Felipe Massa in second and Sebastien Buemi (Nissan e.dams) who was third fastest. Both Venturi cars have finished second in the morning's practice sessions.

Less than ten minutes into the session, NIO Formula E Team's Oliver Turvey clipped the chicane on Turn 15, snapping his front axle and sending him back to the garage. Last season, Turvey started the race on Pole before finishing second overall.

Despite the warmer track temperatures, a number of drivers were still struggling to find the breaking points, causing several lock ups, particularly after the start/finish straight going into Turn 1. With 18 cars all within a second of each other, expect the race in Mexico City to be closer than ever.
