Cassidy and Vergne to continue with Citroën Racing into GEN4 era

Citroën Racing have confirmed that they will field an unchanged driver line-up for the 2026/27 Formula E season, the first of the GEN4 era.

Today's news comes off the back of a successful debut season for the French squad, who currently sit fifth in the Teams' Championship on 166 points. And despite two rounds remaining of the 2025/26 season, preparation is already well underway for the arrival of Formula E's GEN4 era - the most exciting chapter of the all-electric championship to date.

Capable of reaching speeds in excess of 335kph, 0-100kph in approximately 1.8 seconds, and 0-200kph in just 4.4 seconds - 1.5 seconds faster than its predecessor -  GEN4 will deliver 50% more power in race mode than the current GEN3 Evo race car. The GEN4 car will be an average of 10 seconds faster per lap than the GEN3 car in qualifying mode. In ATTACK MODE, GEN4 produces up to 600kW of power, a 71% increase in base output over GEN3 Evo, delivering performance that pushes the limits of electric racing. GEN4 is the only single-seater race car with permanent all-wheel drive.

Unleashing GEN4: A new era of high-performance, sustainable electric racing begins

To take on the challenge, Citroën have opted for experience within their driver line-up, with Cassidy and Vergne undoubtedly one of the most consistent and formidable pairings on the grid.

Entering London 42 points off the lead of the drivers' standings with 104 points, Cassidy remains a mathematical title contender, thanks to four podium finishes and a race victory (the first for Citroën in Formula E) in the second race of the season.

Meanwhile, despite a challenging start to the year for Vergne, in recent races, Formula E's only back-to-back champion has reminded the paddock of his skill and excellence behind the wheel, with brilliant drives in Shanghai and Tokyo.

Nick Cassidy, Citroën Racing Formula E Team’s driver, said: “I’m very happy to continue with Citroën Racing Formula E Team for Season 13. We’ve built a strong relationship within the team, and I’m looking forward to continuing the development of the GEN4. It’s an exciting time for Formula E, with a new generation of car that represents a completely new challenge. I can’t wait to keep working with the whole team and unlock the full potential of the GEN4 once it hits the track.”

Jean-Éric Vergne, Citroën Racing Formula E Team’s driver, said: “I’m proud to continue this journey with the team. Developing a new generation of race car is always a unique challenge for a driver. The arrival of the GEN4 is incredibly exciting and will mark a major step forward for the championship. We still have plenty of work ahead of us, but I’m confident we’ll arrive at the start of Season 13 with strong foundations and be ready to fight from the very first race.”
