Shanghai International Circuit

When viewed from above the full circuit layout takes inspiration from the Chinese symbol 'shang' meaning ascend. Designed by the legendary Herman Tilke, the Shanghai International Circuit opened in 2004 for the Chinese Grand Prix and will now play host to all-electric racing some 20 years later.

The inaugural Shanghai E-Prix, will see the 22 Formula E drivers run on a variation of the West Long circuit. From the lights the grid will go wheel-to-wheel around the looping first turn that gradually tightens as the field enters the rolling complex that make up Turns 2 to 4. Next up is a fast run to the hairpin at Turn 6 before the flowing rhythm section feeds the pack to the right-left-right chicane that closes out this 3km circuit.

After four seasons away Formula E returns to the country where it all began, China, as the all-electric single-seater series gets set for a visit to Shanghai. Prepare for a fast and frenetic race as 22 drivers go wheel-to-wheel for a wild ride around the Shanghai International Circuit.
