Final 2019/20 season entry list revealed

Final 2019/20 season entry list revealed

With weeks to go until the 2019/20 season kicks off with the double-header in Saudi Arabia, the FIA has revealed the full and final team and driver entry list for the sixth season of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

The upcoming season features 14 races in 9 capital cities across five continents – starting with a double header in Diriyah in Saudi Arabia on November 22 and 23 and coming to a close in London with another double-header in July 2020.

This year’s expanded 12-team entry list will see 24 of the world’s top driving talents take to the grid for the first race of the 2019/20 season in Saudi Arabia on November 22 and 23.

Five of the 12 teams retain the same driver line up – namely Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler (Daniel Abt and Lucas Di Grassi), Envision Virgin Racing (Sam Bird and Robin Frijns), Mahindra Racing (Jerome d’Ambrosio and Pascal Wehrlein), Nissan e.dams (Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland) and Venturi (Felipe Massa and Edoardo Mortara) – while the rest rely on at least one fresh face as they challenge for the title against one of the most competitive line ups in the series' history.

Reigning champions DS Techeetah is once again led by frontman Jean-Eric Vergne - the reigning FIA Formula E Champion - who partners up with new teammate Antonio Felix Da Costa.

At Panasonic Jaguar Racing, Mitch Evans will start his fourth season with the British outfit joined by Formula E rookie James Calado. For newly named NIO 333 FE Team, the Chinese squad pair British driver Oliver Turvey with Chinese hero Ma Quing Hua for the upcoming season.

After both BMW i Andretti Motorsport drivers finished their 2018/19 rookie season successfully, Alexander Sims remained with the outfit while former Geox Dragon driver Maximilian Guenther was signed to the German team during the off-season.

American squad Geox Dragon will head into the 2019/20 campaign with a completely new line-up. Double FIA WEC World Champion and former Formula One driver, Brendon Hartley, who prepares to make his all-electric debut, is joined by Swiss driver Nico Mueller.

Newcomers Mercedes Benz EQ Formula E Team and TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team have both opted for a blend of experience from Formula E and other top-level race series in their driver line-ups, respectively pairing Stoffel Vandoorne with Nyck de Vries and Andre Lotterer with Neel Jani.

With one of the best driver line ups ever seen in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, expect more unpredictable, wheel-to-wheel action to unfold on the streets as the 2019/20 season kicks off in the Saudi capital on November 22 and 23.
