Home hero Felipe Drugovich had navigated a hectic season-opener to finish fifth at the flag on full debut for Andretti.

REPORT: The 2025 Google Cloud São Paulo E-Prix

That looked like it had made it two in the top six for the American team, who played the race nicely with their late use of ATTACK MODE.

However, a post-race penalty for speeding under Full Course Yellow, with Drugovich passing Citroen's Nick Cassidy, left the Brazilian down in 12th position after the five seconds incurred were applied to his race time.

He was also hit with a three-place grid drop for Mexico, for overtaking under the same Full Course Yellow.

That meant maiden points for Lola Yamaha ABT driver Zane Maloney in Formula E - who wound up a net 10th.
