An experience I will never forget!
Although it wasn’t my first time in Monaco, this visit felt completely different, it was my very first Formula E race, and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the sport. From the moment I arrived at the track, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. I had the opportunity to take part in the FIA Girls on Track programme, which turned the day into so much more than just a race. The activities were inspiring, hands-on, and full of energy. The Pit Walk was, without a doubt, my favourite part of the day. Being able to walk along the pit lane and see some of the cars up close was unforgettable, it made everything feel so real and so exciting.
As if the day wasn’t special enough, I also had the chance to meet some of the drivers as António Félix da Costa, Nyck de Vries, and Oliver Rowland, among others. They took the time to greet us, which made the whole experience feel even more personal and memorable.
And the best part? It all happened on my birthday!
Celebrating in Monaco, surrounded by the excitement of Formula E and the FIA Girls on Track community, was truly unforgettable. It was the perfect birthday gift. The Fan Village was another highlight, offering interactive experiences like sim racing, where I got to experience the thrill of driving a Formula E car virtually. There was so much to see, do, and learn throughout the day. There was also a small podium there to take pictures, a shop to buy Formula E merchandise and different activities for all ages.
Another lovely surprise was the gift bag we received as part of the experience. Inside the backpack, there were all kinds of items like a t-shirt, a cap, a water bottle, and so many other cool things that made us feel truly part of the event. It was such a thoughtful detail that added to the excitement of the day. I also want to give a huge thanks to all the staff and volunteers who were kind, helpful, and welcoming from start to finish.
What made the experience even more meaningful was being surrounded by other girls who were just as excited and curious as I was. Sharing this journey, exchanging thoughts, and feeling the energy around us reminded me how important it is to create spaces like this, where young women feel welcome and empowered.
FIA Girls on Track is more than a programme, it’s a celebration of potential, passion, and possibility. This experience undoubtedly makes me want to work in this world even more in the future. I left Monaco feeling inspired and already looking forward to repeating this experience, I recommend all girls who like motorsport to participate at a FIA Girls on Track event, it will undoubtedly be an experience they will never forget!
FIA Girls on Track is a great opportunity for girls between the age of 12 and 18 to get an insight into the world of Formula E. This season, Formula E have taken the programme to every race. The project aims to increase the number of participants racing in Motorsport but also gives young women the chance to explore career prospects in this traditionally male-dominated field by giving behind the scenes access and opportunities to talk to women who are working within the sport.
