Formula E nominated for BBC Green Sport Award

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship has been nominated by a BBC panel for its Green Sport Awards, which celebrate the good news from athletes and organisations working hard to enact and inspire change.

Formula E Net Zero since Day Zero

Formula E is nominated in the Elite Organisation of the Year category.

Recommendations of sportspeople and sports organisations demonstrating significant environmental consciousness and/or actions in the past 12 months were provided by experts inside and outside the UK.

A list combining these names was provided to the BBC Green Sport Awards production team and was then discussed by a shortlisting panel.

A panel of independent experts in climate and environment issues from inside and outside the BBC then judged the winner of each category.

"The motorsport championship for electric cars was nominated for its continued work in driving sustainable change both inside and outside motorsport," said the panel.

"It uses targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), has involved business partners in its efforts, and uses its technology and global platform to drive the move towards a more sustainable motor industry."

The winners will be announced on the BBC Sport website on Monday, 2 October.
