Formula E says farewell to beloved paddock figure, Ian Trevor

Formula E says farewell to beloved paddock figure, Ian Trevor

The Formula E family has learned of the sudden passing of security manager and beloved paddock character, Ian Trevor, aged 61.

Known affectionately by Formula E friends and colleagues as Big Ian, he was an instantly recognisable and trusted figure at our race circuits. Ian was part of the championship from Season 3, and was highly-regarded by those that worked with him as a meticulous planner with unparalleled dedication, professionalism and passion for his work.

He took personal pride in ensuring drivers and personnel were able to go about their duties on-site in sometimes complex and challenging surroundings in the safest possible manner thanks to an intimate knowledge of every metre of each Formula E race location.

“Big Ian” truly embodied the Formula E spirit. Those fortunate enough to have met him will also remember Ian as a caring, humorous, conscientious person and an attentive friend to any and all offering positive energy in every scenario, no matter how tough and usually accompanied by the reassuring words in his softly-spoken Midlands accent: “we'll be alright, we’ll do this, we always do… you know what I mean like.”

Formula E staff, drivers and team personnel will feel there’s a big hole in the paddock come Mexico City as will the fans, who came to recognise “Big Ian” through his appearances with drivers at autograph signings and at the podium, where he was often asked for autographs himself.

Our thoughts are with his wife Vicki, his loving family, and his close colleagues Scott Anderson and all at International Event Security.
